After studying law at Julius Maximilian University in Würzburg, I passed the first Staatsexamen (state examination) in 1997. During my legal internship in Hamburg I also worked at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, at the Hamburg office of the law firm Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Löber and at the Arthur Andersen firm of auditors, among others.
After passing the second Staatsexamen (state examination), in 2000 I earned my doctorate at the University of Hamburg with a dissertation on company law, which was mentored by Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Klaus J. Hopt. In this connection I received the “Helmut-Schippel-Preis” award from the German Association for Notarial Law. I then received a stipend from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to complete my Master of Law at the University of Michigan Law School (LL.M. 2001). After passing the bar exam for the State of New York I was admitted to the bar as an attorney-at-law.
From 2001 to 2003 I worked as an attorney in the Düsseldorf law offices of Hengeler Mueller Rechtsanwälte, with a focus on company law. In 2003 I qualified as a notarial candidate and worked in notaries’ offices in Düsseldorf and Cologne. Since 2005 I have been a member of the management board of the Notarial Chamber of the Rhineland in Cologne and during this time an editor for the Rheinische Notar-Zeitschrift law journal.
In 2009 I was appointed public notary, initially with a registered office in Pulheim, and in 2015 I took over the notary office of Dr. Ingo Palmer in Düsseldorf.
I am member of the board of Deutsche Notarrechtliche Vereinigung (NotRV) e.V. (German Notarial Law Association), member of the advisory board of Gesellschaftsrechtliche Vereinigung (VGR) e.V. (German Corporate Law Association) and member of the editor’s board of Rheinische Notar-Zeitschrift (Rhenish Notaries Journal).
I certify documents not only in German but also in English, and regularly publish papers on topics relating to company law. I am married and have three children.
